Product Description

MAKE-UP OF THE 16 CORE PILOT CABLE.

  • a) 2-Cores (one pair), each core shall consist of copper conductor of 2.5 sq. mm. polyethylene insulated, the two cores twisted together and screened for use with Slokar protection system.
    b) 4-cores (two pairs), each core 2.5 sq.mm. polyethylene insulated unscreened and each pair twisted separately for use with inter-tripping and interlocking protection system.
    c) 4 cores (two pairs) each core 0.635 sq. mm. polyethylene insulated and each pair twisted separately and the two pairs screened together with aluminium foil for use with the telephone system.
    d) 6 cores (three pairs), each core 0.635 sq. mm. unscreened and polyethylene insulated. Each pair shall be separately twisted for use with indication system.

CONDUCTORS

The conductors shall comply with B.S. 6360 in so far as applicable for plain annealed copper wires. 

INSULATION

The core shall be insulated with LLDPE ( Linear Low Density Polyethylene ) of type (03) compound in  accordance with B.S. 6234.  The insulation thickness shall not be less than 0.5 mm. 

INNER SHEATH (BEDDING):

The inner sheath shall consist of an extruded covering of black polyethylene, which  shall be type (03C) compound in accordance with B.S. 6234/69.  The thickness of  the inner sheath shall not be less than 1.0 mm. 

ARMOUR

The armour shall consist of one layer of galvanized steel wire complying with requirements of BS E.N 10257-1 (metric units) diameter not less than 1.25mm.
N.B: These cable shall be designed to withstand induced voltage level up to 5 KV. However, the above insulation and inner sheath thickness and armour wire diameter are minimum and may have to be increased to suit the above induced voltage level. 

OVERALL SHEATH

The overall sheath shall consist of an extruded PVC jacket. It shall be also black in colour and withstand without deterioration during storage and site conditions. 

The PVC shall comply with B.S. 7655 section 4.2 for PVC type 9. The thickness of  PVC overall sheath shall not be less than 1.7 mm.
